Our baby is becoming a little girl!

I looked at Lil today and thought "wow, she's a little girl!" It's as if Lil grew up overnight and she isn't a little baby anymore. Realistically, I know that she still is a baby but she's starting to act more and more grown. She's started saying "da-da" (despite my gentle encouragements to say ma-ma first) and making a "ga" sound. I also think she is really trying to say "cat" because every time Jerry walks by, she says "ca". So close!! There is a lot of babbling going on as seen in the video.

We had our post-op follow up appointment today. Everything is fine and she is healing nicely. She will actually be in this cast for seven weeks and the second cast for five weeks (due to our Doctor's schedule.) We were just happy that he didn't want to extend her cast time. So the cast change will be on September 29th and cast off date is November 3rd!! Counting down the days! And when we know the time of the appointment, we'll be counting down the hours and minutes!

Lillian's hip dysplasia is a somewhat unusual case so we are used to many doctors, nurses and residents wanting to check her out. During today's appointment, I looked up and we had one doctor, three residents and three nurses all in the exam room at once trying to get a look at her. But I like to think it is because she is so darn cute and was hamming it up for all to see and hear. Our Doctor took some pictures and a short video of Lil to use in his presentations. She continues to be a star...even in a somewhat dreary situation!

We started to receive statements from the hospital and Doctor for her surgery and hospital stay. Thank goodness for health insurance! Let's just say that the costs could nearly cover the purchase of my dream car: the Range Rover Sport. Ha! We like to tell Lil that she has the most expensive hips on the block...maybe even in the city!!
