Six months, Sand Lake, 4th of July...oh my!

The last week or so has been full of excitement! We took our first family vacation to beautiful Sand Lake, Michigan. We made the trip on the afternoon of July 4th after Addison got off of work. Just so happens that the 4th was Lillian's six month birthday.

The day started out with Lillian and I attending her first parade. The Fry's invited us to join them for the Indian Hill parade just down the street from us. Lillian had a great time minus the couple instances when the fire trucks blared their horns...she did not appreciate that! We ended up running into her friend Allie. The two of them are so darn cute together.

After Addison got off of work, we packed everything up and started our drive to the lake. Lillian did really well in the car and only started to fuss when we had about half an hour left. This is the first time she has been to the lake so we were very excited to introduce her to lake life and the people who are such good friends to us. It's like an extended family there...you may not see someone for over a year but you just pick up right where you last left off.


Anyway, after a chilly first couple of days, Lillian started to enjoy being in the water. By the end of our trip, she was splashing around and enjoying being pulled around in her own little boat.




The week went by so fast but we really enjoyed our first family vacation together. It's the simple, quiet moments that mean so much.

And in other exciting news...Lillian has mastered sitting up on her own! It happened pretty quickly although we have been sitting her up for a while now. She usually topples over pretty quickly. I was sitting with her on the beach and all of the sudden, she was sitting on her own and reaching for her toys without toppling right over. Such a big girl.
