A little camera shy

We had an ultrasound yesterday to check on the location of my placenta. The first ultrasound we had showed that the placenta was really low and basically blocking the birth canal which would mean a c-section would be necessary. Well the placenta has since grown with the baby and is now in a position that would allow for a vaginal birth...that was good to find out! Right now, small fry is breech but there is plenty of time for him or her to get into a better position.

My mom and dad made the trip from Indy to be a part of the ultrasound. Unfortunately, small fry was shy this time and so we didn't get a very good glimpse of the face. The Dr. even came in (after the ultrasound tech) and tried to get a good look at it but said she would practically have to stand on her head and ultrasound my back to do so. It was neat to see small fry practicing breathing which babies do occasionally around this time. Also, small fry had one arm bent up behind it's head which is exactly how Addison likes to sleep. Pretty funny to see.

They estimate that small fry currently weighs 4lbs. 4oz. and all measurements looked good. The heartbeat was 158/minute.

The Dr. gave the ultrasound a grade of A+ but did say small fry could have been a little more cooperative for our sake (we didn't get any good pictures). We think the baby is just getting a little cramped, found a comfortable position and didn't want to be messed with. Little ninja. Can't say it is entirely comfortable for me as I am being kicked in the bladder and jabbed in the ribs. But I'll deal with it.

Afterwards, we had a great dinner with my parents at one of our favorite spots: Bella Luna. It was great of them to make the trip and we enjoyed seeing them.

Nine weeks and counting!
