The cast is off!

Our little lady is free! We are so thrilled!! Just to see her little feet and legs and kiss her stomach...it's so awesome. We've been holding her very close and it feels so great. I've been smiling and crying all at the same time.

It was kind of a traumatic experience for her (and for me...ugh!). She really hated the machine they used to take the cast off. And she seemed scared when the cast finally popped off. It literally split in half. They let us have the front of the cast and when Addison showed it to her and she kept reaching for it like she wanted it back on! Anyway, they took x-rays to check the position of her hips and the Dr. said everything looks great. She was immediately fitted for a brace which attaches around her stomach, goes behind her bottom and then around her upper thighs and hips. The Dr. said she will be in it for six months at least and for now, she's in it 23 hours a day. Good news is: we can give her a bath for the first time in three months!!

Lil is already moving her little feet and legs around like crazy and has tried to pull herself up into a sitting position. It will take a little time for her muscles to regain their strength but with the way she is moving already, I have no doubt it won't be long now before she is on the MOVE!

The Dr. said her skin looked really good but it was hard for me to see. She has a lot of dead skin that is now flaking off all over us and our house. But in a week or two, she will be as good as new.

Thank you again for all of your prayers, support and encouragement through this whole ordeal. We have a bit of a way to go but we know we can get through anything, especially with the support of our loved ones!!
