We spent last weekend in Madison, Wisconsin for the marriage of my cousin Katie to her fiance Brad. What a wonderful wedding weekend with family and friends! The whole weekend was filled with such love and laughter. It was the first time Lillian met many of my family members so it was extra special for us. These people have given us such love and support over the years and are so very important to us.
Katie looked radiant and so happy. Brad looked amazed with his new bride. My Aunt Susie had a look of sheer excitement and love on her face all weekend. My Uncle Dale's toast to his daughter and new son-in-law was funny, emotional and perfect. Katie's sister Erica toasted the bride and groom with humor and a reminder of the power of sisterly love. The reception was so FUN!! All in all, it was such a great time. I'm really glad we could all be there to share in it.
Lillian had fun making friends with some of the other kids attending the wedding. Although they were mostly older than her (and boys!), she had a great time running up and down the hall at the cocktail hour trying to keep up with them and yelling "COME BACK!" when they would pass her. My little girl...trying to keep up with the boys already.
And for the first time, we got to see Lillian take to the dance floor and show off her moves!! Once she started, she did not want to stop! It was especially cute to see her dancing with Carter, a little boy right around the same age as her. Their interactions were hilarious for all to see. It was well past her bedtime and the adults had taken over the dance floor by the time we were able to drag her away...albeit kicking and screaming.
There were so many special moments over the course of the weekend but one that stands out in my mind is seeing my little Lillian dancing. I think about where she was just one year ago and it makes my heart so happy. I am so proud of her...proud of her strength, determination, carefree spirit and the happiness she exudes. She continues to amaze us everyday.
